Remote Sensing by John R. Jensen,

Remote Sensing by John R. Jensen,
This book introduces the principles of remote sensing from an Earth resource perspective. It describes a) the fundamental characteristics of electromagnetic radiation and how the energy interacts with Earth materials such as vegetation, water, soil and rock, b) how the energy reflected or emitted from these materials is recorded using a variety of remote sensing instruments (e.g., cameras, multispectral scanners, hyperspectral instruments, RADAR), and c) how we can extract fundamental biophysical or land use/land cover information from the remote sensor data. The history of remote sensing, the principles of visual photo-interpretation, and photogrammetry are also presented. Application chapters focus on remote sensing of vegetation, water, urban land use, and soil/rock and geomorphic features. The book was written for physical, natural, and social scientists interested in how remote sensing of the environment can be used to solve real-world problems. The following features make this book easy to comprehend and apply: a) it contains hundreds of illustrations specially designed to make complex principles easy to understand, b) a substantial reference list at the end of each chapter, c) the 8.5 x 11" format allows the remote sensing images and diagrams to be easily interpreted, d) 32 pages of color are used to display remote sensing images or biophysical information that may be extracted from remote sensor data, and e) an Appendix provides Internet addresses for the most important sources of remote sensing information. Exercises and book illustrations are made available to instructors via the author's website. This book is a companion to "Introductory Digital Image Processing: A RemoteSensing Perspective" (Prentice-Hall, Inc., 1996) which introduces the fundamentals of digital image analysis. It is ideal for undergraduate or graduate courses in airphoto interpretation and remote sensing.

Remote Sensing by Fourier Transform Spectrometry by Reinhard Beer,
Remote Sensing by Fourier Transform Spectrometry by Reinhard Beer,
While there have been many books dealing with the instrumental and mathematical processing aspects of Fourier Transform Spectroscopy there remains a need for a text which examines the technique as a remote-sensing tool. Remote Sensing by Fourier Transform Spectrometry fills that gap to offer students and professionals in a variety of fields a comprehensive reference on the application of FTS to their research needs. Remote Sensing by Fourier Transform Spectrometry serves as an introduction to the specification, design, and implementation of Fourier Transform Spectrometers (FTS), especially those intended for atmospheric or astronomical remote sensing. Beginning with an overview of the phenomenon of two beam interference, the book introduces the reader to some of the terminology and units characteristic of this specialty. The book goes on to investigate the performance of the Michelson Interferometer as a Fourier Transform Spectrometer. A solid introduction to the chemistry and physics of remote sensing, including a simplified development of the theory of radiative transfer, is also provided. A detailed section of real Fourier Transform Spectrometers begins with a discussion of the estimation of signal-to-noise ratio using radiometric models, including the impact of pointing jitter or signal fluctuation on an FTS-generated spectrum. An analysis of the theory and practice of interferogram sampling is followed by a section on how certain modifications to the simple Michelson Interferometer can provide optical configurations more suited to the stresses of remote sensing. The final portion of this section describes potential problem areas in the implementation of an FTS, such as phaseerrors, channeling, and linearity.

Special senses - In medicine, Special senses is the term used to describe the senses of vision, hearing, taste, and smell.

Garden of Five Senses - The Garden of Five Senses is not just a park, it is a space with a variety of activities, inviting public interaction and exploration. The project, developed by Delhi Tourism Transportation Development Corporation, was conceptualized to answer to the city's need for leisure space for the public, for people to socialize and unwind.

Pushing the Senses - Pushing the Senses is British band, Feeder's fifth studio album, released January 31, 2005 (see 2005 in music). Grant Nicholas, Feeder's lead singer described this album as more of an extention to their previous album, Comfort in Sound, than a new album of its own right.
